Zorba & Shred
Precision Sorting

Mixed non-ferrous scrap — Zorba — is only as valuable as how well you can separate it. ρ-MATRIQS™ identifies individual alloy grades and metal types, turning a low-value mixed stream into high-value sorted fractions.

The Core Problem

Mixed Zorba Is the Worst Price You Can Get for Non-Ferrous

Every mixed kilogram sold as Zorba contains Cu, Al, Zn, Pb, and stainless — each worth a different price. Selling them together means the buyer discounts the blend for contamination risk. ρ-MATRIQS™ removes that discount by separating the blend at the source.

The price gap is significant: Wrought aluminium alloys (6xxx series) can command two to three times the market price of mixed cast/wrought blends. LME Grade A copper is 15–20% higher than mixed copper scrap. Identifying and separating these fractions before sale — not after — is where the value is captured.

Platform Capabilities

Six Ways ρ-MATRIQS™ Adds Value to Non-Ferrous

From Zorba fraction separation to aluminium alloy grading — each capability unlocks a specific price premium that mixed-sale operations leave unrealised.

Full Zorba Separation

Separates the twelve standard Zorba fractions — aluminium grades, copper wire, zinc die-cast, lead weights, stainless offcuts, and brass. Each fraction goes to the right buyer at the right price.

Aluminium Alloy Grading

Distinguishes between wrought and cast aluminium, and between individual alloy series — 1xxx, 3xxx, 5xxx, 6xxx, and so on. Wrought alloys command a significant premium over mixed cast material.

Copper Quality Grading

Grades copper wire and solids by purity level — separating LME Grade A copper from lower-grade material. Identifies tinned, coated, or alloyed copper that requires separate processing.

Harsh Environment Operation

IP69K rated and operating in positive-pressure enclosures. All sensor readings are automatically corrected for dust loading — so accuracy does not degrade in the shredder hall environment.

Construction & Demolition Scrap

Identifies aluminium window profiles, copper plumbing, and mixed metals from demolition scrap. Separates coated from bare aluminium — where coating removal significantly affects smelting yield.

Eddy Current Integration

Works alongside or replaces traditional eddy current separators — with the added ability to identify specific alloy grades within the non-ferrous fraction, not just separate ferrous from non-ferrous.

Alloy-Level Identification

Eight Aluminium Grades. One Belt Pass.

Most systems separate aluminium from non-aluminium. ρ-MATRIQS™ separates aluminium from itself — identifying the individual alloy series in a single belt pass, using laser chemistry and density cross-verification.

Default if confidence <0.78 — passes through, not ejected
What happens when confidence is below threshold? The particle is passed through to the mixed fraction — not ejected to the wrong bin. Conservative actuation preserves fraction purity. Low-confidence particles are logged for operator review and OTA model improvement.
The Difference

Before and After ρ-MATRIQS™

The price differential between mixed Zorba and separated, certified fractions is what ρ-MATRIQS™ captures. These are not efficiency gains — they are revenue that was always there, but unreachable without particle-level identification.

❌ Without ρ-MATRIQS™

  • Mixed Zorba sold as a single low-value bulk commodity
  • Wrought and cast aluminium blended — wrought premium lost
  • Copper grades co-mingled — LME Grade A value not captured
  • Zinc die-cast contaminating aluminium fractions at smelter
  • Manual sorting accuracy degrades above 80 TPD throughput
  • No compliance records — no EPR documentation per lot

✓ With ρ-MATRIQS™

  • 12 Zorba fractions separated — each routed to highest-value buyer
  • Wrought / cast Al distinguished — premium captured per tonne
  • Grade A copper separated — LME spot price realised, not discount
  • Zinc die-cast identified and removed before Al fraction is shipped
  • Automated at full belt speed — accuracy maintained at 200 TPD+
  • EPR lot certificate auto-issued per sorted fraction, per shift

The price premium is in the identification. ρ-MATRIQS™ makes that identification possible at belt speed.

Compliance Without Extra Work

Every Fraction Is
a Compliance Record

EPR certificates, CPCB return data, and ESG chain-of-custody are generated automatically as a by-product of every sort decision. No separate data entry. No compliance staff overhead.

  • CPCB Annual Return data auto-generated from daily lot records
  • EPR certificate auto-issued per sorted Zorba fraction, per shift
  • Full lot traceability — shredder intake to certified buyer
  • CO₂ per tonne tracked per fraction stream — Panchamrit-ready
  • Export-ready: PDF, CSV, API — for CPCB, investors, and auditors
🛡 Audit Guarantee

Every record is immutable, timestamped, and signed. CPCB inspector asks for documentation — your team exports from the dashboard. Nothing to assemble manually.
